World Environment Day 2015

On Friday 5th June the world celebrated World Environment Day (WED).

On this day each year, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) calls on countries, cities, government, businesses and individuals all over the world to take action to preserve the environment.

This year the day was hosted by Italy with the theme “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care”.

Evidence now suggests that people are consuming far more natural resources than the planet can provide.

Anyone can make a difference in reducing their reducing their carbon footprint, but businesses can often make the biggest impact.

More and more organisations are now taking the necessary steps to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Simple changes like encouraging employees to work from home can help curb climate change, whilst bigger steps such as installing renewable energy can make an impact on a greater scale.

These businesses are not just becoming more sustainable; they are also benefitting from an enhanced brand image and making significant savings on their energy bills.

Environmental preservation is an integral part of Visolaris’ business vision. We are focused on raising awareness of the benefits of renewable energy by supplying free solar and wind installations to all commercial clients. In celebration of World Environment Day we bring you an example of one of our most recent projects….

Taunton Pool

Taunton Pool is a large public swimming pool and health suite including a sauna and steam room meaning the facilities have a huge electricity demand. The new Solar PV system on the roof of the pool is able to provide the building with 25% of its usage. The pool is now equipped with a 40kw Solar PV system which is generating a lot of interest from members of the public as the savings are displayed on a screen within the pool are which shows people the amount of carbon savings, energy production and energy usage.

“We have never received such great customer service from a company before now, the whole team were so friendly and got the job done within the timescales stated.”

Mr Angrave, Tone Leisure Taunton Pool
