A new report has suggested that onshore wind power could beat gas on price as soon as the year 2020 in the UK. The cost reduction could drive down fuel bills in households all over the country, saving families significant amounts each month. The research, which was carried out by Onshore Wind Cost Reduction Taskforce (set up by trade association RenewableUK), revealed that if certain changes are implemented, onshore wind has the potential to be cheaper than it’s nearest competitor gas in the not too distant future. Central American nation Costa Rica has broken records and reached a huge environmental milestone this month by powering itself using only renewable fuel for the first 75 days of the year.
