In the press

Stagecoach Ltd have taken strides forward in their efforts to reduce their carbon output. Working alongside Visolaris Ltd they have embarked on a project to install Solar Pv on all of their depots nationwide. The Scottish based firm started looking into their options over a year ago when they found Visolaris who were able to satisfy their needs for solar panels and wind turbines. So far in the region of 2MW of PV has been installed from the north down to Portsmouth with the project continuing on to a proposed 30MW at completion. Feed in Tariff Cuts

In the press

On Tuesday 28th August 2015, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) launched a consultation proposing to cut the Feedin Tariff (FiT) rates for solar PV installations by up to 87%. The FiT scheme was introduced in 2010 to be able to encourage the installation of low-carbon, renewable energy generation facilities. It encourages this by paying for every kilowatt hour it generates. The rate would depend on the size of the system, what technology was installed, and when the system was installed. The two major changes in the consultation include: introducing highly reduced new generation tariffs, and producing a … Continued

Australia to be 100% Renewable by 2050

Australia could source 100% of it’s power from renewables by the year 2050 according to a new report published by the Australian National University. The report, which was commissioned by WWF Australia, focused on how the country could reduce its net emissions without incurring significant costs or harming the country’s economy. The report outlined that Australia’s reliance upon fossil fuels for affordable and widespread energy was unnecessary and that 100% renewable energy could undoubtedly be supplied through existing renewable technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines. One of the author’s of the report, Associate Professor Frank Jotzo, from Australian … Continued

UK Leads Solar Energy Installations in Europe

A recent report from the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) has revealed that the UK installed more solar energy than any other European country in 2014. The study showed that while the European solar market fell over 30% last year, solar installations continued to grow here in the UK, increasing installations over 50% to 2.3GW. The UK’s strong performance saw it installing more new solar power capacity than any other European country including usual powerhouses such as France and Germany. Chief Executive of EPIA, James Watson, said; “It’s great to see a thriving solar market in the UK, as it … Continued
